Application Description

Easygo is an on-line public transport query and guiding system currently deployed on 3G and GPRS phones. The service utilizes the location positioning technology available from the 3G network provider to determine the approximate location of the user. Once an origin (user-selected or automatically detected) and a destination have been input, the system will search up to three matching public transport mode(s) and route(s) with user-selected criteria of ¡¥most direct¡¦, ¡¥most convenient¡¦ or ¡¥most economical¡¦ route. Search results are displayed on the mobile phone with both textual and 2.5D enhanced image maps. The system covers all modes of public transport within Hong Kong and those to nearby cities and townships in Mainland China. Information concerning the chosen origin, destination and stops/piers/stations can also be displayed bilingually on specially-designed maps, on which users can find most building names, street names and landmarks for easy orientation.
